Growing up in the projects of Lawrence, Massachusetts was not easy for me. I had more people reminding me of where I was in life than those telling me where I could be in life. For many years, even into my early adult-hood, I believed that I would not accomplish anything of true significance. What woke me up was the birth of my daughter. Thinking about her inheriting my struggles or current mind-set bothered me deeply and forced me to make changes.
I finally got myself together and joined the Military, honorably serving 10 years with 3 tours of combat duty. From there I graduated Cum Laude, earning my Bachelor's degree - along with many other additional skills from advanced education and on the job experiences.
Today I am a man who still considers himself a work in progress striving to be a better man – a better human. Even though I’m nearing the back half of life, I still have many goals that I’m determined to accomplish.
However, should I fail in reaching my current goals before I take my last breath, I’ll know with God as my witness, I was pushing forward and toward my goals.
